World Suicide Prevention Day Candlelight Vigil

World Suicide Prevention Day Candlelight Vigil
According to Statistics Canada, suicide is one of the top ten causes of death in Canada and suicide trends in youth and aboriginal Canadians have reached epidemic proportions. Loved ones left behind struggle with their grief over the cause of death, over which there is still very much a stigma. It is important to shed light on this serious societal issue.
“Take a Minute, Change a Life” is the 2017 theme for World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10 and focuses on how we can move forward with a mind towards the hope of prevention. Please join us for a candlelight vigil in the FCSS parking lot to honor and remember those lost to suicide, and to show support for survivors and those who have thought of committing suicide. You are not alone. Following the vigil, participants can move into the FCSS building for refreshments, speakers, and supportive discussions.
